So in the last couple of weeks my long slow run has gone from 6 to 7 to 8 miles. Who am I kidding - I dont have a running pace- my long slow run is the same as my short fast run only a bigger distance. I just leave the house and go for it. Not strictly true but more or less. My main objective is to always remember - the trick is to keep breathing (not my wit but the title of a good book as far as I can remember of the content).
Tried honey stingers for energy as my runs increase and may require something like this to help with the 13.1 miles I am going to run (I suspect I may need more than an energy giving substance, like a miracle if such things exist???!!!). Well - it was pleasant to stop and chew a wee sweetie for a couple of minutes but am not sure what I am supposed to feel. Am I supposed to see a rainbow and then start running about in a Benny Hill type fashion after having received my shot of energy from said sweetie? They aren't really sweeties but more like a cube of jelly, apparently more palatable than energy gels. Who knows?
I was really pleased with myself until at nearly 7.5 miles a well meaning man from a bus stop shouted "keep it going son youre doing well" - yes thankyou very much mr man- ask the bus to stop at specsavers.... I knew my sports bra flattened my chest profile a bit, but really - from my hair surely he must have realised that the long curly (as it was at the weekend) rocker look on blokes went when jon bon jovi went down in a blaze of glory with lovely short locks a long long time ago? - RUDE! (Thanks Miranda)
Slightly rained on my parade and took the edge of the run a bit.....
I can feel a cold coming on .....
Task for the week - investigate implants and chicken fillets.........
Oh yeah - also need to get on and get training at night during the week when the kids go to bed instead of doing things like cleaning, washing, cooking and rebuilding lego vehicles (I consider myself to be a bit like the elves in the elves and the shoemaker but "the mummy and the lego ambulance" doesn't have the same effect thought does it???)
