It could be the fact that my four year old and I have have been here there and everywhere - farms, museums. He is a pre schooler that lunches and socialises - and has a better social life than his mother (not too difficult to achieve). So by the time the kids went to bed mummy had to join them. Also after weeks of my gall stones not affecting me my eating habits have left me wiped out at least twice this week.
Any after my MAMMOTH seven miles (tee hee) last week I faced my long weekend run having not run at all this week (except in two opposing directions after the children).
The Jedi runing master had failed to get up out of bed for his planned 20 miles at 5.45am this morning due to the fact the hailstones, wind and rain woke us rather than the alarm clock. "Hurrah!- if hes not going out then I will get away with not running today" I thought in sleepiness and then put the thought of seven miles out of my head.
At 11.30 he performed his usual Jedi mind trick and I suddenly decided "a run seems like a good plan". I was told by the Jedi running master I would feel great after my run "you always feel good after a run"
BOLLOCKS to that today!
10 minutes into the run I was struggling and then the hailstones started and kept going. Luckily I was a circuit that is about 2.5 miles long so I battled around one circuit. I swear at one point I had both hands over my face and was squealing with pain as the hailstones hit of my face. It was certainly the first time I thought - WHY? - so many WHYS - take any negative question about running and follow it with or start it with WHY? and you could put yourself in my shoes today.
At the end of the first circuit I decided to head home. Of course by the time I arrived home the sun was back out and apart from the blue tinge to my legs and the fact my hair was soaking you would never have known that I had come close to death on my Arctic expedition 15 minutes earlier)(OK major exaggeration)
When I got home Jedi running master (JRM) laughed and four year old asked me if hailstones hurt???? JRM then asked me why I had come home and that I needed to TTFU- which apparently stands for Toughen The F**k Up - I think thats what he was mouthing Iwasnt really listening to him at this point I was too busy planning my revenge on him at a later date. Then I was brought my shoes and told to get back out and do some more miles. I was then thinking - well I wont even write down what I was thinking.
I stomped out like a huffy little girl and then took my over all mileage up to just under 6.
I didnt enjoy my run today not even my keep going songs helped.
Today is a day that I could have kicked the JRM in his boys bits.
However I have learned some new things about running:
- Stopping and starting during a run is not good. It puts you in a bad mood and your body hates your even more. It thinks your done and when you start again it really does protest.
- I need to get a training plan sorted.
- I must not let another week go by without training during the week.
- It might rain when I have to do this half marathon - EEEEEEEKKKKKKK!!!!!!!
