Mortified!!!!!!!!!

Well today I hit an all time high in runing embarrassment! Shorter seven miles today but working on pace (quicker hurrah!)

The volume of my music was loud to help me along (I must admit that I was ignoring the paragraph on volume control in the safety for women runners chapter in my running book).

OK so the personal safety issue aside, which I will take on board for future runs considering it was a fairly quiet piece of road,  I really did make a fool of myself.

Picture this........just over 5 miles into a run and on comes a song that helps pick up my mood and my pace.

Not my usual musical taste but come on -  Born to Run  - Bruce Springsteen - who could disagree - ok so maybe not everyones taste but we all have our guilty pleasures!

It gets to this bit -

Just wrap your legs round these velvet rims
And strap your hands across my engines

I have however failed to notice the really fast running man (not the dance move but an actual person) running up behind me as I am singing those lines at the top of my voice. He passes me as I doing my best Bruce, quickly followed by me shouting "OH F**K" when I realised he was there.

Ground open up and swallow me now. He dropped his pace for a bit whilst he recovered from his bout of laughter so I cant imagine he was best pleased either.

I have never experienced that level of embarrassment for a LONG time and that story involves me, a car, some traffic lights and the Reef song "put you hands on" (that is if you take the whole having to get your bits out to twelve strangers who are delivering your baby and getting that wee baby sort of takes the embarrassment away).

As for the Reef incident thats another story........
